Continue readingThese one of a kind earrings feature an asymmetric design handcrafted in 18ct white gold, 2 x 1ct pear cut diamonds with 1ct pear cut sapphire, and small diamond and sapphires. The earrings can be worn with a drop section that can be added to left the left or right earring or removed and worn as a pendant. The right earring hooks around the ear with flowers balanced inside the ear. Left is a stud earring that compliments it. The left is a flamboyant earring design that takes inspiration from a bird on a branch viewing its perceived reflection while the right is the true shy reflection.

The nested structure of concentric circles makes the work present an aesthetic feeling of continuous expansion or contraction, and the overall work reflects a comfortable sense of flow. The combination of gold and diamonds creates a rich and colorful picture and a texture of contrasting layers. The two texture treatments on the metal deepen the layering and spatial extension of the work, reflecting good craftsmanship.

Continue readingCryptographic Beings is a Bio-Hybrid machine manipulating photosynthetic organisms through rules implemented in soft and hardware. It showcases a newly developed technology for information storage that leverages the ability of algae to perceive light. This robotic installation consists of 30 vegetal bits in the shape of glass vessels containing living organisms. Using a pair of motorized arms, the machine can expose each of the algae to light, encoding binary information in their state. Can humans design tools that are not only bio-inspired but made of, with and for living organisms?
